Many pets including dogs, cats, fish, birds, rabbits, horses, deer, racoons, and even a mountain goat, have called the Governor’s Mansion home. Governor Joseph Sayers’ (1899-1903) Saint Bernard refused to leave the Mansion and the incoming occupant, Governor S.W.T. Lanham (1903-1907), adopted the dog.
