Early American Empire, Circa 1832

Walnut and burl desk with a fall front, enclosing pigeonholes, and drawers in curly maple panels. Spiral twist columns and black burl, swirl feet support the upper section and writing compartment. Three recessed drawers with round wooden pulls and backplates form the lower section.

The silver plate on the desk front reads:
“Desk used by General Stephen F. Austin at Peach Point, the home of his sister, Mrs. Emily M. Perry, and presented to the State by the heirs of the late James F. Perry II, June 7, 1923. Neff Administration.”
