The main entrance to the house is on the east side, centered behind the six 29-foot high columns on the porch. The half turn staircase is original and one of the most important architectural features of the building. A highlight of the collection of fine and decorative arts is the Fall of the Alamo, painted by Robert Jenkins Onderdonk in San Antonio.
