The main block of the Mansion built in 1856 was a central hall plan with two rooms on each side of spacious halls on the first and second floors. The house was sited facing east to catch the prevailing breeze in Austin, providing natural ventilation in the hot summers. Rococo Revival style furniture given by Miss Ima Hogg furnishes this area.
