The west hall leads to the portico that replaced the original back porch in 1914. On the wall is an 1860 chromolithograph of John James Audubon’s Mockingbird. The mockingbird is the Texas state bird. The bookcase holds a collection of Texian Campaigne tableware made in England to commemorate the Mexican War, 1846-48.
